THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF BEIJING

Sally Embley has a long involvement in the management and direction of child-centered care projects spanning many nations. She has lived and worked in Taiwan, Venezuela, Norway, Thailand and China. Educated at the University of Leeds in the UK and University of Massachusetts Amherst in the USA, Sally is now wife of the Principal of one of China’s largest international schools. This pivotal position allows her to direct the considerable resources and social muscle of the school towards projects that benefit those less fortunate than the children who attend the school. She is also coordinator of several joint venture projects between the school and both the government and other nascent NGOs in China. Passionate and personally involved in all the projects of which she is part, her main aim is to move towards a more open and self-sustaining culture of care and accountability by building both local involvement and international awareness. Sally’s intention on joining The Grace Children's Foundation (TGCF) is to combine her passion and experience with helping children with a practical, on the ground, sensibility to ensure that the resources of the foundation, and the wider expat community are directed appropriately. Another strong focus for Sally is to ensure the coordination and delivery of vital resources in the sometimes confusing layers of bureaucracy that must be negotiated by any NGO. Sally’s passion for helping children is undimmed and in conjunction with the resources of TGCF will make a difference to the lives of many.
