WHY WE EXIST

TGCF’s Youth Initiative (YI) was launched in 2002 in response to the 9/11 attacks in the United States and to support the notion that even the simplest gesture coming from students of all ages from around the globe can be the game changer for children who have no voice.

In that same year TGCF was honored to be chosen by Salt Lake City and the International Olympic Committee to carry the Olympic flame on behalf of orphaned and disadvantaged children. In 2004, after two years of raising awareness and student sponsored activities, children and their families from the United States gathered in Beijing, China to pass the Olympic Torch to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

This symbol of hope was sent to honor the children who live in the orphanages and those who are disadvantaged for lack of resources. The torch is hanging in the Ministry of Civil Affairs, acknowledging the children and those who are responsible for their wellbeing.

YI MISSION
The Grace Children's Foundation’s (TGCF) Youth Initiative (YI) encourages Students of all ages and Young Professionals to raise awareness about the plight of orphaned and disadvantaged children globally and to support TGCF’s Children's Resource Exchange Center’s model of healing and learning through the practice of “Mindful Giving.”
