Andrea Bastiani Archibald, Ph.D.

Developmental Psychologist

Andrea Bastiani Archibald, PhD is a developmental psychologist, thought leader, and member of the Grace Children’s Foundation’s Board of Trustees. She works with purpose-driven brands to engage and further the well-being, passions and potential of their teams, customers and stakeholders while advancing business objectives and driving social impact. She advises organizations and speaks as an authority on child development and family dynamics, leadership, diversity and inclusion, the intersection of social, emotional and physical health, and cultural influences on youth.

Andrea was an executive at Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) for over 10 years, where she developed and implemented national strategic initiatives and partnerships to better serve the needs of today’s girls and families. She was the national spokesperson for the organization, authored numerous program resources, and provided the child development expertise that powers the popular Raising Awesome Girls hub on GSUSA’s website.

Prior to joining GSUSA, Andrea was an assistant professor of psychology at Concordia College. Over the years, her work has been published in numerous academic volumes and peer-reviewed journals in the fields of child and adolescent development, including the Journal of Research on Adolescence and the International Journal of Eating Disorders. Her expertise has earned her media appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America, Fox News, CNN, NPR, BuzzFeed, and Mashable, and in such publications as the Washington Times, Fast Company, and Parents magazine.

Andrea received her doctoral and postdoctoral training at Columbia University’s National Center for Children and Families. During this time, she was also a Mellon fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, where she researched and developed programs for girls and women with anxiety, obsessive compulsive and eating disorders.

Andrea is honored to join GCF’s Board of Trustees at this important time in the Foundation’s history. Her work will support the digital transformation of the Children’s Resource Exchange (CRE) to drive the systematization of and greater access to pediatric health care for those children most in need around the globe.
