Of Counsel at Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP Community Service Advocate for Casa Freehold
Dawn Resnick was born and raised in New York City. After graduating from Brooklyn Law School, Dawn joined the immigration law firm of Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP, one of the premier firms in the industry. After a decade serving the immigrant community, Dawn took a break from the law to raise her children.
When her son, Brandon, was four years old he began suffering from epileptic seizures. Because traditional medicine was unsuccessful, Dawn was forced to look elsewhere for treatment. She discovered The Charlie Foundation, an organization that provides support for the medical ketogenic diet. Dawn ultimately ended up at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (“CHOP”) with a neurologist who is a leading proponent of the ketogenic diet. It has now been more than nine years since Brandon was successfully treated with the ketogenic diet.
As a result of what happened to Brandon, Dawn has become an advocate for the Ketogenic Diet. When their neurologist first approached Dawn about her idea to start the first and only Keto Kitchen in the United States, Dawn and her husband did not hesitate to donate their time and money to help see the kitchen come to fruition. Dawn continues to speak to new “keto” families and host fundraisers to support the kitchen.
After a chance meeting with Nancy Robertson and learning about the Grace Children’s Foundation (GCF) and learning about the work and plans for the Children’s Resource Exchange (CRE), Dawn felt compelled to become part of this outstanding organization.“After Nancy and I met and immediately clicked, I knew that the CRE digital platform presented the perfect vehicle to expand my advocacy for medically fragile children”.
Dawn now divides her time between being an activist in the immigration community and being a proponent for the Ketogenic Diet. She has returned to her roots and is currently Of Counsel at Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP and a part-time volunteer in her community at the non-profit Casa Freehold.
In her free time, Dawn enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband, Steve, and their two children, Arielle & Brandon. Additionally, Dawn volunteers as an immigration attorney with Casa Freehold Dawn brings her passion for helping immigrants and children to the Grace Children’s Foundation.
